You almost fell but caught yourself 
before I had the chance 

I almost slipped my hand in yours 
to start a lover's dance 

We almost took that first step 
but somehow lost our balance 

We almost did so many things 
but the story wasn't ours 

I found the ticket to my dreams 
but arrived a day too late 

You dared not risk the journey 
and stopped before the gate 

We travelled at the speed of light 
but never shared the season 

We almost touched that rainbow 
but you could not find the reason
