Poetry by Toni Kinney

Fly  Away
~

Will you fly away with  me?
sail away on high cobalt seas
to exotic places near and  far,
without a care of where we are
~

Lazy strolls down an  endless beach,
colorful sunsets we can almost reach
holding hands with  sweet soft kisses,
hearty laughter and serene  caresses
~

I will serve you a  delicious meal,
then dance the night, if you will
this is what I have in  store,
am I what you’re looking for?
~

If so, will you take my  hand,
request, rather than demand?
look into my gleaming eyes,
inside  you’ll find paradise

You

You are the only drug I  need
the speed, when I seek a rush
my opium, when I feel pain
my  ecstasy, when I crave love
the cannabis that helps me chill
LSD, when I  want to float outside
myself

Your mere presence alters my  mind,
short circuits synapses in the brain;
a choke hold that won’t  release me

I am your prisoner, I feel  nothing,
I am nothing without you,
your tentacles squeeze life from  me,
inch by inch.

I float into this peaceful place;
pain  free,
where palm trees sway lazily,
and subtle breezes flow from the  sea,
besides,

                 I am no longer alone

Mysterious Eyes
~
There is a deep  ambiguity
in your eyes, one so infinite,
yet has a familiarity,
a keen  sense we have known
each in another life
~
Your slow breathing  mimics
the wax and wane of the gentle
tide, as we sit together and  take
in the wonderful burnt umber sunset,
with a tropical breeze of the  cobalt sea
~
I cast my eyes skyward as seagulls
circle and swoop for  their meal,
and sandpipers roam the dunes
for the same.
~
There is a  deep mystery in
those dark eyes, upon a much
closer gaze into those  lovely
brown eyes, I have found the
answer to one of many questions
I  have been longing to know.
